It was a popular stop for travellers, and as well as a venue for public meetings, notices and elections it had a weighbridge, so teamsters would stop with their loads of timber and stone.

These days the main bar has a chilled and open atmosphere with a large variety of locally crafted and imported beers. They also have a great beer garden for those warm Sunday afternoons with a giant screen for watching sport.
